Keep your workout clothes fresh and funk free

In our earlier blogs we have given you tips on how you can take care of your whites and also how to keep your favorite colors unfaded. How about your workout clothes then? When exercising, your body gets all sweaty and your sweatpants certainly dirties more than your normal clothing! Here we have a few tips on getting the smell out of sweat out of your workout clothes.

1. Avoid sitting around in those gym clothes-
You might find it fun lazying around in your gym clothes, because they are just not comfortable but also look cute. But wearing your sweaty gym clothes for hours together harbors bacteria, leaving you at risk for infections. Take ’em off and get some fresh clothes on.

2. Hang them Dry Immediately –
As soon as you return home after your sweaty work out session, take a moment to hang your gear before tossing them into the laundry basket or shoving them into your gym bag. This will do wonders for extending their lifespan and also withdraw the sweaty odour from them. Those sweaty gym clothes when stacked shabbily in a pile, the bacteria grows and the smell lingers making them worse.

3. Pre-treat them-
To prevent bacteria and freshen your clothes, pre-soak them in a mixture of vinegar & water. Use one part vinegar and four parts of luke warm water for about 30 minutes right before the wash.

4. Wash them well-
Use the hottest water that the fabrics can tolerate. Turn your workout clothes inside out before placing them in the washer. Avoid mixing your work out clothes with your regular clothes while you wash them.

5. Harness the Sun-

After washing, rinse your gym clothes properly and hang them out to dry in the bright sunlight. This helps remove all odors and smells in a natural way.

6. Take care of your gym shoes too-
Baking soda reduces bad odors. Sprinkle baking soda in your workout shoes and leave them for 24 hours. You could also use dryer fabric softener sheets into your sneakers for a similar effect.
